Hi,

I pasted a new PNG into the Mac Hard Drive icon on an iMac I am selling to a friend, and instead of showing the picture, it shows the file icon for the file type (a standard "image" icon) with the type of image format it is (PNG, TIFF, JPG, GIF, etc.) written on the icon.

Does anyone know how I can correct this? I really have to get something other than this on the drive before I deliver it.

I put it there by pasting each image into the properties screen (Option i when the system hardrive on the desktop was selected).

Help!

You can revert to the original icon by selecting the icon in Get Info and pressing DELETE. Otherwise, you can change icons by downloading an icon file (rather than an image file), copying the icon form within its Get Info page and then pasting it into the desired item's Get Info page. Alternatively, try an app called CandyBar. :)
