Hi all, My HD in my Imac has basically died and I wondered is it possible to just replace the HD with a standard SSD drive? rather than having a fusion setup?

Might be a stupid question but better be safe than sorry....

Thanks for any advice

Yep, just make sure you get this thermal sensor to go with it to prevent the fans from running full speed. I'd also grab an AdaptaDrive while you're at it to get it to fit with the stock mounting bracket.

As for the drive, I'd go with a Samsung 850 EVO or a Crucial MX200 personally.
