I have an iPad 5 whose time has come. New one arrives Wednesday. So, do I have the sequence here right; remove from Apple account; then wipe it. I will take it to Apple Store to recycle. Anything else?

Even if you forget to do something important, in my experience selling/recycling things at the Apple store, they will go through a checklist before taking the device and will ask YOU to verify visually that everything is clean.

Make sure that everything you need from the old iPad is backed up or you already have copies of it stored somewhere...

You can either perform erase all from within the iPad and it will ask you to enter the Apple ID password to continue or what I usually do, log in to iCloud on the web browser [desktop], erase device then remove from account...

The reason I do not do it within the device is I don't want it to upload anything to iCloud unless I specifically asked it to do...

There is a reset option in the settings that automatically logs you out of iCloud as well. You can just use that.

And please do not choose to recycle it. You'd only be taking a perfectly working iPad out of circulation that someone else would be happy to use and avoid spending money they might not have. Schools that use iPads might be able to make use of it.

I will take it to Apple Store to recycle.
And you probably already know this, but Apple will let you print a free shipping label for recycling if you don’t want to drop it off in person.
Anything else?
Uh, yeah, lol, they’ll accept any accessories you have lying around that need recycling.

And don’t forget to let us know which iPad you got and how it works out. 😃
