I cracked my 13" MacBoook screen. In a panic, I dropped it off at Micro Center for a cheap $179. In retrospect, though, I think it would've been faster and cheaper to replace it myself with a part from eBay (my experiences only includes replacing MacBook hard drives).

My main question is if anyone has had experience with Micro Center (a national chain) or similar places? I dropped it off Aug. 23, they shipped it off after running diagnostics on Aug. 28, and that's the last I heard. They told me it usually takes 2-4 weeks. I need it by Sept. 12, however, for a DJ gig. Could they rush delivery it if I paid extra?

Why so long? Are they a 3rd Party Authorized Apple service provider? If they are, it shouldn't take that long. As for replacing the display yourself, it's not as easy as replacing a HDD as it requires more patience and time.

It's one of those places that *can* replace the screen, but they said it'd cost me "an arm and a leg." So, they outsource the repair to somewhere I don't know for a cheaper price ($179).
