My friend just bought a macbook pro, and wanted to change the 9600GT to a 9800Gts. I was wondering if this is actually possible?? i searched the forums, and no one has posted anything like this. Help please!!!

Is the inside of the Macbook Pro where the 9600 GT is just a slot with the card in it, or is it somehow attached to the mainboard where it wouldnt be possible to replace??

(there is NOTHING wrong with the card... my friend just wants a better one!)

Thanks for all the help! - if this is possible i'll give him the green light to "operate on his :apple:"

No, the chip (and its RAM) is soldered to the motherboard.

aww... my friend will cry after hearing that... :( oh well...

Thanks for answering my question :)

Besides, he uses it for video editing using Sony Vegas in Vista, and does his schoolwork on OSX. so i dont think it would have affected his performance.

THanks again!
