Anyone know if it is possible to replace the LCD screen in a 2011 15" MBP? I'm wondering if it would be possible to take a 2009 LCD screen and put it in my MBP. 2009 was the last year that Apple offered the matte screen in normal resolution. Seems like that would be the ultimate solution for those of us who want a matte screen but think the text is too small on the hi-res screen. I've replaced the LCD screen in a ThinkPad laptop that I have, so I'm wondering if I can do it for my MBP.

Doesn't look like there's been much discussion on this in the past, and in the few threads I found, there seemed to be confusion about whether you could just replace the LCD screen. Some thought you would need to replace the entire lid of the MBP. If that's the case, it'd be too expensive and not worth it. But if you can just replace the LCD, it might be worth it. Seems like there are some sellers who sell the matte normal-res LCD panel. Would a 2009 LCD panel even be compatible with a 2011 MBP? I wonder if the connectors would be the same and if the 2011 logic board would be able to detect the 2009 panel.

Tech Restore offers a matte screen replacement for the MBP. I don't know if it is a high-res display.
