I’m considering the possibility of adding an iMac to my home.

Is there an app or method that would allow me have the iMac mirror my MBP?

My suggestion:

Don't become obsessed with "mirroring" a desktop and a laptop.
Let each Mac "be its own Mac", so to speak.

You will find that each has its own uses and strengths.

No reason that they have to be "the same".
They may be MORE enjoyable to use if each one is "a little different".

You won't be able to achieve an exact mirror image. If you just want your files in sync. Google backup and sync plus iCloud can do a good job.

If you don't want to use the cloud. Chronosync does a good job. Although the initial setup is more difficult.

If its just you using the computer. An external keyboard, mouse, monitor and a dock is an option. It would be cheaper and simpler.

To what extent are you looking to "mirror" your MBP? Syncing your documents/files is easy... there are countless ways to do that.

The more I think about it I am leaning toward fishrman suggestion.

The MBP is used for more work than anything else.
It’s like the work wife and wife.
