tried this a couple of times ... and it seems that on the iPhone 6s its possible to reply to a text message / iMessage without unlocking the phone, you just need to 3d touch to get to the reply and then send your reply. is this normal, are others experiencing this also

also noticed that access to 3rd party keyboards (swype) doesn't seem to work from this option, but works elsewhere

no sure yet if i like the fact that messages can be replied to without unlocking the phone

It was possible on iOS 9 as well, you just had to swipe the notification to the left and the Reply option appeared, so this is not a new privacy concern.

ohh ... so you can ... never noticed that before, maybe because the 6s was so fast at unlocking with touch ID

I have an iPhone 6s and am running iOS 10 (beta 2)

When my phone is locked and an incoming text or iMessage comes in, 3D Touching the message does nothing for me. My only option is to swipe the message and then unlock the phone.

Are others able to 3D Touch and reply without unlocking the phone?

Actually no, I just tested this. This was present in iOS 9 if you had the "Reply with message" option on in passcode settings. With it off, you couldn't reply to a message on the lock screen (swiping left only showed a cross to remove the notification), you had to unlock the phone. In iOS 10 this doesn't seem to be the case. Anyone can reply to messages on the lock screen without unlocking the phone by 3D touching which I don't like the idea of.

Is this only for the iPhone 6s/ipad mini 4 and beyond devices? On my iPad mini 3, I cannot respond from the lock screen. Or do I need message previews turned on?
