Both me and my wife able to reply Whatsapp message via our Apple Watch, but my friend's watch has no this option.

There is no apps on the watch, but when we receive a message, we can choose to reply straight away. More or the less same as the native message app, able to chose the preset reply or via dictation.

The only conclusion so far is because both my wife and my iPhone is on 9.1 beta 5, but my friends phone is on 9.0.2.

So far,
42mm Black SS (os2) + 6 Plus (9.1 beta 5) = Yes
38mm SS (os2) + 5s (9.1 beta 5) = Yes
42mm sports (os2) + 6s (9.0.2) = No

Is there any Apple Watch + Whatsapp users here can confirm that's because the difference of the iOS? Thanks!

I have iPhone 5 IOS 9.0.2 and Applewatch WOS2.0 and receive whatsapp message on watch but can't reply to them

The same here... Can't reply to whatsapp messages on the watch. I'd really like to know if it's possible on 9.1 cause I was thinking of maybe jailbreaking my phone again on 9.0.2, but if whatsapp notifications are actionable, maybe ill update.
I could install the beta here, but I'm not really in the mood for that, it'd take some time to sync everything

its only available on 9.1
but you can JB 9.0.2 with Pangu and install a tweak that enable this on 9.0.2

Thanks everyone. So it seems this is really iOS related, I wish this function will stay in the 9.1 official release.

I think this topic has been covered in the iOS 9 sub-forum. The observation there is that some apps like Whatsapp held off from implementing Quick Reply (from banners or notification centre or Apple Watch) because of a bug in iOS 9.0. Those of us on 9.1 beta gets the feature now, and the rest will get it when 9.1 is out of beta.

Thanks for all the input. As a principle (I don't know will they ever change) Whatsapp doesn't release apps on any platform other than the iPhone and other smartphones, not even the iPad, and of course, not the Apple Watch.

This is far inferior than all other messaging apps and the problem is that in my city Whatsapp's penetration is close to (if not at) 100%. But if at least quick reply and dictation are available, it may mitigate the situation a bit.

I'm on 9.0.2 JB with iPhone 6+, I replied to WhatsApp messages ...even group message, before and after JB.
But when I go more than one message, "REPLY" option on the watch is no more there, only "Dismiss"

Glad to hear that this will be coming in 9.1. This was my most wished for feature for the Apple Watch.
