Sign me up. I'm on the 8+ and the whole reason I didnt upgrade this year was to hold out for 5G to try to offer some level of future proofing on my next phone. That should do it.

cant see why they are still messing around with Qualcomm when Apple should be making their own modems.

I think they'll put 5G in every model, just like they have the same A13 chip in the 11 and the 11 Pro. OLED with ProMotion will likely be the flagship feature of the pro models, I wonder if they'll stick with LCD for the 12 or if they'll go for an OLED with a lower refresh rate.

God, please let that 5.4" model be real, and heck I wouldn't complain if it was a bit smaller, either.

Should be a nice upgrade from my iPhone SE.

MR site navigation apparently much much faster in my Mate 20 Pro than iPhone 11! Not sure if this is due to slow WiFi (I have AC router) in the iPhone 11. Hope this gets addressed in 12! Hope this is not the case with Pro & Pro Max!!

Think it’s just timing and load. My response on this site on my Xs max, goes from instant to slow. I hope this is addressed by a minor version forum update.

As far as Qualcomm modems, great news but I’m not expecting miracles.

I still want my 5.8 screen size I think the 5.4 screen size might be to small and 6.1inch to big for my liking.
FYI - 5.4 is the actual usable area of the 5.8 phone - I am guessing the notch will be gone on the 2020 phones.

Wife is upgrading her XR to 12, I however I’m going to hang onto my 11 Pro Max.

5G isn’t going to be widely available for another year or two and it’s not worth an upgrade for me just for something I can’t utilize.

It took me three years to actually get 4G service after it was introduced.

If all 3 iPhones are getting Oled and 5g, it's going to be rather confusing what size iPhone to get.

I can't imagine why. Get the screen size you want.

My dream is that the smallest phone won't be limited in some way, but I guess we'll see how that pans out.

Just three iPhones? What about the iPhone 8S?

that’s supposed to be earlier in the year

like how SE was launched in early 2016

I think it is the notch going. It is a three year circle for a major re-design, so I guess notch is going.
USB Type C
No notch
90hz or 120hz display refresh rate.
Qualcomm modem.
Starting with 120 GB storage.
Battery life just as good as iPhone 11 Pro Max or even better.
Take my money.

would be nice

although expect battery life to take a hit because 5g and 90-120 hz displays will drain battery much faster, especially that combo

I don’t 5nm will make much of a difference. It’s why they are looking at adopting or modifying that OLED tech with low refresh rate when not in use like series 5 watch

I think they go by market research and market trends, sales engineers...

I’m not sure if the demand for 5 inch phones are high enough for them to go against what all their research is telling them.

They do have a SE coming soon.
There will be no product called “SE”.
You do realise the SE is a dead product line that hasn’t been updated in nearly 4 years?
What will most likely release next year is a refresh to the 4.7 inch iphone 8.
People need to stop banging on about the SE , i was issued one by work it’s a horrible phone way too small for modern use.

5g is something that has limited use for mobiles if you already have gigbit LTE. The hype surrounding 5g has become deafening in the mobile space but the reality is that is of to IoT due to the smaller cells.

No, the Note 10 5G uses the X50—the first gen battery hog that Apple passed on. The X55 won’t be released until sometime next year.

Actually the X55 is available this Quarter. The Note 10s will use the X55 and the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren will be an X55 device. It has been announces and will be shipping soon.

Put me in the tin foil hat camp, I don't care -- after seeing this rumor, I believe my next iPhone will either be one of the 11 variants, or the rumored SE next year. Not interested in 5G until we see real-life health effects after having it rolled out on a wide scale for a few years (even that is still a ways off, frankly). I'm the type to keep my devices for 3+ years. Gonna wait out this 5G expansion and watch it from a distance.

I’m excited about the 5.4” phone. I’ve had an iphone X since that launched, and its always irked me that its ever so slightly cumbersome to hold for those such as myself with smaller hands. Shaving that size down even a little should make a huge difference on an ergonomics front.

same here, the 2nd gen Modem will be more battery friendly
