I guess you can't rush these things..

Apple wants every other country to be like their standards... but its just not. You can't force countries to do your bidding....(no matter how much you wanna sell in that space.) By forcing others to get better standard just for "Apple"your controlling them and they are loosing out on what THEY what to do.

WHich it shuldn't be that way.. But I guess when you've got the money, you just can't stop yourself either.

There's just no comparable locations as in areas of China. But China can try to manufacture lower value items in India, Vietnam amongst others, hoping at least one of them will improve in time. There's just no getting away with the efficiency there in China. Take a look at how China responded to COVID-19 and compare with other countries' execution, it's no comparison and same applies to manufacturing.

We want phones at a certain price point. We want workers to not be exploited. It seems these are mutually incompatible requests.

It depends how you define exploited. Absolutely majority of workers in Foxconn do not feel they were exploited. ( May be different now since housing is expensive and wages hasn't grow as much )

The 2nd thing is the actual assembly, which I think what "workers" in this context may be referring to has very little to do with the price point. Assembling the phone in itself is less than 5% of the total cost.

Hmmm...I’m at a loss here, driving myself crazy trying to find a single country that tests its drinking water and knows how to deploy fire hydrants. Where on earth could such a place exist???!

This is a real head scratcher!

Fire hydrants and water is the easy part. When you covered that you will also need the hundred thousands cheap workers that you can hire in one place. Patriot or not you cannot do this in the US.

It's all about the infrastructure and education.

Not to mention the cultural differences. To this day, the U.S. Department of State tells women not to travel alone in India due to sexual assaults. When half of your population's workforce is scared, it won't be productive. Forget about safety violations related to chemicals or drinking water.

After WWII, both China and India were in relatively the same position. Yet today, India's GDP is about 1/4 that of China. The difference is, one country spent a lot on infrastructure, education, and other reforms.

If you have eyes, you would spend sometime reading the advisory. It clearly states:

Do not travel to:

  • The state of Jammu and Kashmir (except the eastern Ladakh region and its capital, Leh) due to terrorism and civil unrest.
  • Within 10 km of the India-Pakistan border due to the potential for armed conflict.

Stop spreading CCP BS here. This is not the place for your propaganda.

Maybe the power in your neighborhood was interrupted before you could read the entire warning.

Or perhaps you've become so used hearing about rape, you ignore any warnings related to it.

Ah yes, the Level 2 State Department Advisory (yellow) which exists as the de-facto advisory for the vast majority of developing nations for the last umpteen years. Though I would say it's quite telling when Indian Authorities themselves advise for travellers to be careful. What are the chances of any kind of transparency from China. I would wager zero.

P.S. You guys are really desperate to deflect any criticism from China. I wonder what the State Department Advisory for China is these days. 😂
