I try quitting

Lately I tried quitting Soda altogether.
The funny thing is, that after a while of not drinking any you get your taste back. And when you try a sprite or a coke, they really taste like ****.

And those fake fruit juices I mean if you only looked at the colour, fluorescent yellow, you knew that there wasn't anything natural or fruity about that stuff.

Anyway. Drink water and lots of it!

The recommended amount is 6 - 8 glasses per day, 8 oz. In hot weather, then you should drink more.

I'm addicted to soda myself. Can't imagine how anyone could drink 12 - 18 16 oz containers per day. That amount of fluid is too much. Besides the diabetes there could be other damage.

I'm going to be on a food study starting in October, will have to go off soda then. All that I will be allowed is my 16 ounces of coffee.

Is that the only fluids or the only caffeine?

They restrict the intake of caffeine to 16 ounces of any type of caffeine. So they give us a choice on the type soda or coffee. Coffee is my choice. We can have all the water that we want.

By means of comparison, a 7 oz cup of coffee has the following caffeine (mg) amounts, according to Bunker and McWilliams in J. Am. Diet. 74:28-32, 1979:

Drip 115-175
Espresso 100mg of caffeine
1 serving (1.5-2oz)

Brewed 80-135
Instant 65-100
Decaf, brewed 3-4
Decaf, instant 2-3
Tea, iced (12 ozs.) 70
Tea, brewed, imported 60
Tea, brewed, U.S. 40
Tea, instant 30
Mate 25-150mg

The variability in the amount of caffeine in a cup of coffee or tea is relatively large even if prepared by the same person using the same equipment and ingredients day after day.

A ha! I knew I was getting a better jolt of caffeine out of my morning coffee than I was my later-in-the-day Pepsi.

That black cherry sounds delicious. What brand?

I'm definitely not a communist, have none of their beliefs. Are you being facetious? The American Heart Association, Dietetic Association, and many others recommend a balanced diet. That way a person gets their needed nutrition each day without supplements. It is a matter of disease prevention.

I can't belive that people consume that much soda. In my house, I get about 3 times a year. It is never bought, I'm so deprived... :D . But honestly, would it be that hard to by an extra gallon of milk or water at the store instead if a Pepsi six-pack?

Crap! I done had about 3 sodas to day. I should stop drinking so much but i cant. I think I'm addicted to Pepsi. if i go a few days with out one i get headaches. I wonder if I could sue? :)

Of course I'm being facetious. I'm practically a communist. :D

And it was Sweet Valley...one of those no-name brands they sell at Aldi.
