these damn forums are the only people who care if it's 1MM thicker. the MILLIONS/BILLIONS of consumers in the world don't give a flying *****.

Apple will continue to make successful products.

"New iPad 1MM Thicker!" will NOT be news worthy...

I have this horrible feeling it's going to be the iPad 2S released in March, with a retina screen but Dual-Core (higher clock speed) to drive that new display.

Don't see anything horrible about that ... ? Much improved display resolution and faster processor? Sounds great!

I just want somebody to say a dual-core technically couldn't drive a retina display that large. Could it? :( This would be Apple down to a tee, saving the quad-core for the iPad 4 (and it's 'major hardware upgrades' rumoured recently).

I'd be pretty happy with a retina display and dual core processor.

I couldn't give a crap what the iPad looks like on the inside if it works as well as the current model.

I just hope the display size is the same, I have some PowerSupport anti-glare film I'd like to use ...

Apple,
please include the following in iPad 3

* SD Card Reader
* Hi Res (720p) Front Facing Camera for Skype calls
* Hi-res display
* more memory

The last 3 will happen. The 1st won't.

It already has one. I prefer it be on an adapter. I don't like the idea of having a dust collecting hole on my iPad. It would remain mostly empty for the majority of users (keep in mind, full size SD, one that would stick out of the iPad, like it does on the computers).

Can someone remind me of enticing or appealing features for the next iPad, besides a higher res display?

Quad core A6. Hoping for more memory (so it can last to iOS7 without the glitches the iPad1 has). Higher-res facetime camera. Better 3G (LTE isn't going to happen, and I only get wifi only models, but am realistic)

Can the iPhone 4S camera actually fit in the iPad? ie. could the iPad 3 theoretically use the same camera?

Personally, I don't see the necessity of having such a good camera on a tablet. Video focused cameras as the iPad 2 currently use, just improved to 1080p on the rear and 720p on the front, would be sufficient. 720p Facetime HD over WiFi and regular Facetime over 3G.

I think when people say "SD card slot" they're suggesting an extra level of functionality behind the camera kit. i.e., allowing access to external storage for media, content, etc.

...in that capacity, I think the answer is probably not ever (at least under the current iOS device management model...)

Yeah but every time Steve launched something the focus was on how THIN it was and how product X was xxx thinner than the product before it. Of course the majority of consumers could care less but the media whores will make it newsworthy no doubt.

iPad was redesigned last year. I don't see any reason/need to re-design it again in 2012. Focus design efforts on products that have had the same designs for several years like the iMac and Macbook Pro.

What you're proposing isn't a 2S. S models has had much faster and more advanced chips in the same case and display - iPhone 4S was a much much bigger jump from the iPhone 4 than 4 was from 3GS in terms of speed and chip technology, and so was 3GS from 3G.

Besides, there's nothing that special about the current quad core, namely Tegra 3. Its cores are very pedestrian (for a new chipset) 1.3Ghz A9 and the GPU still isn't as good as A5's. Personally I'd much rather see a really fast dual core chip with 2Ghz+ A15 cores and a better GPU. But most likely we'll instead get a A9 quad core chip since those A15 chips probably won't be ready by the time of iPad 3's introduction.

We pretty much know it's going to look the same as the iPad 2. You can't make something the same and call it the iPad 3, it would create disappointment and confusion. I think this time (the 2S in March) will be the speed bump, and next time will be the killer feature Retina screen. Though i hope i'm wrong.

I saw Bigfoot today at CES too, may have been a prototype. He was slightly bigger and faster but otherwised looked the same as the last Bigfoot.

:rolleyes:

Damn Apple fanboi are stupider and stupider.

In my time, when Steve Jobs was alive and Apple actually INNOVATED, people were smart, enthusiastic and wanted more, better features, which Apple then brought to them, this was the reason why we helped Steve Jobs rise to a success he deserved.

Today people who like Apple are either mainstream dumb latecomers who discovered their products one or two year ago (precisely the people who bought the iPhone 4S, every time I see one) or even dumber sheep who are ready to defend and buy whatever super cheap and lame update Apple sells them, even asking for features not to be "because buuuuh we don't need thinner, bbuuunnhh we don't need more features" (Louis CK voice of dumb people)!

Nice to know us newcomers (yes, I bought my first computer, a Mac, about 11/2 years ago) are morons, dumb sheep, and talk funny. Unlike folks like you, who are smart, enthusiastic, and want more and better features.

Us dumb sheep are ruining it for you. I always take particular pleasure in bbuuunnhh trying to discourage the people at Apple (with whom I have tremendous influence) to avoid innovating and improving stuff so I can be an annoying sheep bbuuunhh.

Thanks so much for not stereotyping people new to Apple, and encouraging us to learn and appreciate all the Apple products bring to us.

:rolleyes::rolleyes:
