Apple is set to release the first beta version of iOS 26.4 later this month, providing the first real-world look at the Apple Intelligence features promised at WWDC 2024, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman claims.

Gurman revealed the timing in his "Power On" newsletter. Barring further delays, the first beta version of iOS 26.4 is apparently set to release to developers during the week of February 23. The update will "include some components" of the long-anticipated improvements to Siri.

Gurman added that iOS 27 will deliver further Apple Intelligence improvements, but WWDC will be "a fairly muted affair this year." The main new features will be a "more personalized Siri with a chatbot interface." Apple is said to be focused on improving performance, fixing bugs, and fine-tuning the design of its software platforms this year.

If 26.4 brings us a Siri that 'just works' like we'd expect a voice assistant to in 2026 and that's it, then great.

If iOS 27 is relatively feature light with a huge focus on fixing bugs and optimising existing features and under the hood, then I want this yesterday.

(Of course 37 will have a lot of features - but they are more likely to be enabled by Siri being not incompetent than something that is UI driven).

I really hope Apple will do something remarkable. Otherwise, in less than ten years, the AI tsunami will engulf the company.

I love Apple, but in my opinion it’s sad that a main focus of an annual release has to be bug fixes.
Bug fixes should be a significant part of every point release.

It’s telling that for many, the bug fixes are more exciting than AI features.

Hop on 26.3 now boys, it’ll start building the personal context and it’s better to do so as early as possible

The Apple department of redundancy department:

We are fixing bugs that are easy, creating dozens more and no hope of fixing long term unresolved issues. But you are going to love it - or else.

While the above is a parody, it does reflect the perceptions of many in the Apple community.

The Apple battleship is five miles from shore going towards shore at 20 knots and require two miles to turn around. How soon do they need to fix the helm so the battleship can turn onto a safe course?

The only thing Apple needs to do in the next release is fix all the epic new bugs they introduced in iOS26.
To stay on track the user experience really needs improvement. We need a snow leopard style clean up AND a regulatory obligation to be able to revert to the previous supported OS. If I had known what I know now i would have never upgraded to iOS 26 no matter what features.

I hope this is true. This would allow me to skip iOS 26 entirely. I'll just wait for iOS 27. Well, iOS 27.3 because I never install anything earlier than xx.3

1 year wait... 😂

I want more environments for the Vision Pro. I will hold off updating until I see what 27 will offer. If it does not wow me, then I will wait until 28. I like liquid Glass, but I'm waiting for the final product, and if it's not sufficient enough, I will skip it.

I've been pretty eager to get my hands on a gemini version of siri, ship me that beta today.

But in all honesty, I'd be even happier if they just let me replace siri with straight up gemini. Thats all I want.
