you positive the "refund" will work? I got my macbook literally 2 days ago and i wanna try out mountain lion. Don't wanna buy it now and have a free copy later. Don't want to wait either. Haha

Worked for me... I will be credited later. I installed ML in about 15 minutes time this morning before leaving for work... All seemed to go well, just still stuck at work.

ah, interesting. Maybe ill give it a go, or just wait till tonight when they dish out new keys (hopefully)

I filled out my request for the code via the Up-To-Date program at 8AM Alaska time today (12PM EDT). It's almost 2PM local time and I haven't even gotten an email yet. That being said, if I try to resubmit via the website, it says the serial was already claimed now...

as me and some stated in another thread...

... It can/will take up to 24h to receive the code.

Me said:
I want Lion so bad, I might just install the GM if it's the same version...

Also I was talking to an Apple guy, he said emails only take 24hours not 72... things are looking slightly up? If anyone from the UK gets there email be sure to post it here! :)

Second that. Called Apple Care Sweden and after 18 minutes talking to the rep she confirmed that an email should come within 24h...
Now the waiting game begins for real

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1409818/.

Been waiting since 15.00, CE(s)T and it's now 00:03

I tried to re-submit also, same thing, serial already claimed.
Called technical support, no help whatsoever.

I asked apple support this question earlier today and they said that there will be no reimbursements. Try at your own risk.

...same here, no refund will be issued. Enjoy!

cut and paste from their email sent to me..

Apparently, the invalid codes is a known issue. There will actually be another redemption code emailed to you in the near future.

After reviewing the circumstances of your case, we determined that issuing you a refund for your unintentional purchase of "OS X Mountain Lion" is an appropriate exception to the App Store Terms and Conditions, which state that all sales are final. In five to seven business days, a credit of $19.99 should be posted to the credit card that appears on the receipt for that purchase.

I guess I got lucky..

where did you file your complaint i wanna try and see if i can get the $19.99 back as well.

Apple's going to hate me for doing this...but I just risked the $19.99 and paid for it. Then I asked for a refund. They replied with.

I understand that you've purchased "Mountain Lion" but you can actually get it by other means. I can imagine that you'd appreciate reimbursement for this honest mistake, so do not worry, I will do all that I can to get your money back.

I was able to make a one-time exception to the iTunes Store Terms and conditions for you, which states that all sales are final. I've refunded the purchase of "Mountain Lion".

I kind of feel bad because it wasn't an honest mistake but I did mention I couldn't wait anymore and was a little concerned that I didn't get my code in time. Thankfully Apple was kind to me.

They really should have thought this through. Especially since early adopters (all of us who are checking this thread) are EARLY ADOPTERS for everything!

After calling Apple two times, i made a deal when i have waited 24 hours i should call one more time if its not there yet... And if its not there by then i go into rage, because how the hell can the system work like this:

User buys new MacBook Air/Pro iMac, Mac Mini, Mac Pro, have to wait LOOOOONNNNGGGGG On a new system that they was promised..

User have an OLD Mac, he just goes to AppStore and press Buy and Install and boom then he has a "key" and can install ML.

How can it be that us with a brand new Retina MacBook that have this Lagg issues have to wait !??!?!!??!

Im think i go into rage when i call them at 14.50 today....

couple emails where sent when I applied for the "code".. one of those emails had the support links and I just followed that when I got the error my code was already used. I was actually already downloading it from the store at that point.:D

I filled in mine, and noticed that it added to my address details that i live in the US, where as i live in the UK. There is no way round that. Just been on the phone to apple here in the UK and they have confirmed that the forced erroneous address should not cause a problem.

They also said to expect to wait 24-72 hours for a redeem code!!

They are doing it off a hardware serial number and email address that is already logged with apple, why this can't be automated and instant is anyone's guess.

I went to the UK store and it hard coded my country as United Kingdom.
