Reserved using iUP site, but don't have/want iUP..

So I was able to reserve an iP 7+ thru the iUP site, and it's confirmed. Now, I haven't enrolled in the iUP program nor do I want to. I'd like to simply purchase it outright using a CC that I already have.

Just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation, and been able to get the device w/o signing up for iUP with their own bankcard ? I don't wanna end up there for my reservation only to be told I need to sign up for iUP to get the device.

I think in the US Apple have stopped allowing people to pay outright for reservations and are saying that they are only available for the upgrade programme.

Well, the email confirmation I received says I need to be currently enrolled in iUP.. here's the excerpt from the FAQ in the email

Can I change from the iPhone Upgrade Program to a different form of payment?
Yes. You must be currently enrolled in the iPhone Upgrade Program, so that you can upgrade your iPhone to carrier financing, or purchase at full price. Ask a Specialist for more information.

Yea..that's what got me wondering.. Not interested in financing small purchases.

It depends on who you get. I've heard some got turned away while some were successful. When I reserved one on the 27th of September, I had that same email, but had no issues picking up and paying it full and I'm not an iUP member at all. YMMV.

It's how I got mine last Sunday. The guy in the Apple store said it's absolutely fine to just pay outright and that he felt the website is a little misleading as it implies that its only for the upgrade programme when it's not

Yes, I picked up mine last Tuesday or Wednesday. I did buy it outright online (not through reservation, but just regular store pickup), but when I got to the store the guy assumed it was a reservation and asked whether I wanted to buy it or join the upgrade program. He seemed very happy to process things either way. Hope it works out for you!

That's weird the guy assumed it. Usually when you buy it online for a store pick up, they usually place a sticker with your name on it on the retail box.

You could always buy it through the iUP and then immediately pay it off.

Ah, sorry I wasn't clear! A different guy had scanned the Q code in the confirmation email and called for someone to bring the phone to a specialist at another table. So the actual person who was going to take care of the transaction only knew he was waiting for someone to bring out a 7+ for me.

You're going to have no problems. They'll most likely ask you how you want to purchase it before even pulling up your reservation on their iPod. Just be polite and let them know you'd like to buy it outright because you're in the process of buying a house and they'll give you no issues. Good luck!

The transaction went just as you guys stated... no issues.. checked in (was 25 mins late to boot lol) guy brings device, asks if I have a trade in.. I said no.. asks if I'd like to buy outright.. I said yes.. paid.. signed.. walked out.. In and out in 10 mins!

Did you pick up the same version as you reserved? Or did you bring your carrier information? I'm using att now but I reserved a verizon version. Thank you!

I have TMobile.. Reserved and picked up a Verizon one. No carrier info required.

YMMV, for instance, the Tysons Corner store was strict about no full price purchases with IUP reservation. Their manager asked for carrier information also. Just saw a Jet Black 7+ 256GB Verizon available at 12:04am EST.
