reset external monitor resolution

external monitor ONLY mode (that means lid closed on power), the resolution was set wrong by mistake. now I got the out of frequency and did not revert. How to reset it now. Seems no way of doing it.... stuck.

Have you tried to disconnect and reconnect it?
How was the resolution set wrong?
