Hi :)

Gave my old G4 iBook, running Tiger, to a friend. Situation is:

1) She brings the iBook over, saying she can't install a new driver because it's stopped recognising the password.

2) I confirmed this, and using the install disk, I successfully re-set the password for that machine's one and only account.

3) Now she says that the machine asks for her keychain password "every time I try to do anything, in any application" - and she says that neither the current password, nor the old one is accepted.

I've read similar threads, and I know I have to re-set one or more keychains. Which one(s)? How can I do this?

Login as the user.
Open Keychain Access from the Applications/Utility folder
Select the login keychain
Under edit menu, select change keychain password for 'login'.

Enter the old password and new passwords.

That should do it.

You need to reset Keychain Access.

1. Go open Keychain Access from the Applications/Utilities folder.

2. Click on Keychain Access>Preferences

3. Click on the Reset My Keychain in one of the tabs.

That should put your Keychain into a working state and those prompts that ask you for a password even if one isn't required or if there is no password will stop. If that somehow doesn't work, you will have to delete the .plist

Go to userfolder/Library/Preferences/ and find/delete com.apple.keychainaccess.plist

then restart the computer.
