Hi all,

After using my mac mini with a different monitor and changing the resolution to scale up to it, I cannot get the resolution to remain at 1024x768. I've tried rebooting in safe mode and deleting com.apple.preferences.display* and .uiserver, and rebooting, but upon login the resolution is upped to 1280x1024 (i think, can't really tell as nothing appears). The monitor doesn't give any explicit out of range message, its just black. I'm not sure what to do, any help would be appriciated.

Maybe give zapping the PRAM a try. 🙂

"Resetting PRAM and NVRAM
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
3. Turn on the computer.
4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
6. Release the keys."

[edit]... actually - not sure if this works in X like it used to in 9.
Try holding down the Shift key during startup as another way
