Hi!

I installed iStat Menu on my retina Macbook Pro and changed my speed to 1749

Then I restarted the laptop

The default speed now is 1749!!!

It used to be 1299(or somewhere there)

And when the temperature is low like 45C it's still running at 1749+ as it thinks it's the default speed instead of 1299!

Help! Is there anyway to restore the default speed to 1299? Thanks in advance!

First try to turn Off Active Set.

If that does not work then reset SMC.

No luck, I tried reinstalling the app and installed SMCFanControl too but it still says 1749 as default

Searched everywhere over the hour and tried deleting the app's plist and restarting - no luck..

Finally I reset my SMC - no luck

Then I reset my PRAM TADA!

Thanks anyways!

If you have this issue!

Reset your PRAM!

  • Shut down the computer.
  • Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
  • Turn on the computer.
  • Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
  • Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
  • Release the keys.
