If the quality/material is anything like their CPAP straps, I would avoid this strap. The fabric is thin, not very stretchy, and when it does stretch, it never forms back to its original shape.
I use their CPAP straps. They are quite fine and I believe this strap with really help.

TBH, it does not look very comfortable compared to Annapro-style (or Bobo-style) bands, which mount further forward and rigidly. Basically a better version of Dual Loop, which is fine for an hour or two, but not for longer sessions.

It does not look like you'll be able to run AVP without Light Shield, so you'd still have way too much pressure on cheekbones and forehead.

P.S. If the mount is rigid, that might be a whole another story, gotta wait for the reviews, I guess.
In other words, you have NO idea how the band will wear!

this is an instant buy for me. I've always had good luck with ResMed products for my CPAP. The counter weights sound great for balance too!

My guess would be that the huge margin is to make up for the risk that these don't sell. They'll have to recoup the costs of tooling up for a dud of a product.

If it were a guaranteed seller, you'd see others competing at a much lower price. The fact you don't see other stuff like this is because nobody else wants to take that risk.
Not to mention that if someone's silly enough to sink that amount of money on a VP they're easily milked for a strap to make it more usable.

Might be useful for specialized use cases of Vision Pro, like in medical field. Other than that don't think normal end consumer will be using this.

I'm surprised people are being negative about this - seems very shallow to be hung up on how it looks. I think the bundled strap should have been more like this. I normally defend Apple when people accuse them of putting form over function, but I think it's a legitimate criticism in the case of the AVP headstrap (based on other people's accounts though, I haven't tried one myself so can't be certain).

it looks like they're out of stock already
I know - I've tried ordering since this article came out 🤷‍♂️.

(edit) Just want to add a response to those mocking the looks of it; until I lost 80 pounds, I used Resmed's CPAP products for nearly a decade. This obviously bears a strong resemblance to those items.

However, please consider for a second that Resmed is the healthcare industry leader in designing headgear that keeps medical devices strapped comfortably to your face for 8 hours' sleep, 365 days a year. I can attest that their headgear was by far the highest-quality, most comfortable, and was the only brand I would use when I required CPAP.

I applaud them for finding a market where their specialty can make a difference. Just wish I could order it now!

I agree.

And I've been a critical care RN / nurse manager for 37 years. Reading the posts about how these look "dystopian" is laughable. This strap uses the same design as most CPAP, BIPAP, and intubation equipment that has been in use for decades. Translating something that works to VR/AR equipment was genius.

I cannot understand why so many in these threads or on Reddit (although it is much better there recently) want this device to fail or are so negative about it. Most of the hostility seems to be aimed at the price.

I have been a Mac guy since the 80's; I spent $3500 on a PowerBook 2400c...in 1998 (it would be almost $7,000 in 2024 dollars). I was fortunate to have a bunch of older iPhones, MacBooks, and an iPad that I traded in that took off $2000 of the price, but after having it since launch in February, I would gladly put the full amount on a credit card. This is the most amazing thing Apple has ever produced, and an exciting way to see their path forward.

Has anyone received one yet? I ordered a small and just got it, unfortunately it's too small but already know this is going to be the best head strap so far. Any word when the Med/Large will be available?

You may already be aware of this: The ResMed Kontor strap just popped up on the Apple Store website as 'Available to order'. Home delivery 16 to 30 May. I had a habit of checking every week and a few days ago 'Unavailable' changed to 'Order Today'. Based upon the lag time between order and delivery, the production must just be starting to gin up. Where are they made? Tariff bait from He Who Must Not Be Named? I wonder what the level of interest will be in this product?

Thanks, my order is in progress. I originally ordered the small one as it was the only one available in January and felt is was the best. Strap available, just too small.Seeing how they even pulled the small, I assume they needed to make adjustments before trying again.
