The default one, "Looks like 2560 x 1440". I prefer to avoid the scaled resolutions, and that one provides enough screen space for me.

I.e. "Looks like 2560x1440" as well. Integer scaling gives better results most the time, and the screen space is pretty good I think.
That was before the iMac died anyway. Waiting for a refresh
 
Default paired with an external 27” QHD monitor. Everything appears the same size on both (but clearer and sharper on the iMac).

To run something depends on your expectations. 60FPS in games is vastly different to just a smooth desktop experience. For the latter, refer to Apple's technical specifications for monitor attachments
