I don't understand why you thought replacing a 2010 machine was necessary. It's hardly old or out of date! Did you really have nothing else to spend your money on that a laptop that was clearly not needed?

The 2010 white MB is perfectly fine. I was only looking at changing it out because it's warranty is up in a few weeks and I've never had a MacBook of any type without warranty coverage on it. I don't want to pay the $250 for AppleCare on it, so I thought I'd sell the 2010 white MB and replace it with another laptop so I could gain another year of coverage going forward.

I wound up just selling the 11" Air and I think I'll just keep that white 2010 MB for her and roll the dice without the warranty since it seems to work just fine.

You're her father... Don't blame us :p

I told my 16 year old daughter she was getting a new Civic to drive on her 17th birthday..

raised her nose and she said she thought she deserved a mustang

a year later now and she's in a 5 year old Civic.....

wait until you find the MBA with battery run down, mag safe lost and stickers all over it....you'll be wondering why you did not get her the dell netbook....

I know 7 year olds who are not able to read or write properly - and 7 year olds who read and write with ease. Some of them are even able to use a Computer for typing, emails, or the Internet. But even the cleverest of them do not evaluate the usability of a computer deliberately. I bet they can't distinguish a cheaper aluminum MB13 from the newest MBP13...

Treat kids as kids. They are no little adults they are kids. In my eyes - your daughter did right to refuse your gift. Maybe - I'm sorry if this sounds rude - you are the spoilt kid.

Do you realize you're not on reddit? Or are you always that quick to spout memes no matter the context? What's actually odd, beyond the out-of-context reddit url-structure meme, is that every thread on this forum is really a first world problem so there's no point in saying so.

A daughter with priorities so far out of whack doesn't deserve such a fine computer.

She will finish in the streets at 15 because she won't always be able to get what she wants.

That is why he is a bad father

Also ffs stop feeding the trolls!

You sound like a fantastic and thoughtful Dad.

If your 7-year-old daughter doesn't want the machine, I'll take it.

At this point, I would have given her a bicycle. Used.

Can we just kill this thread? I thought it was dead about 3 weeks ago. Most of the posts here are useless and miss the points I made.

I think they call it a 'joke', something like that anyway.

hahaha....that was awesome! "a year later now and she's in a 5 year old Civic....." sounds exactly like something my dad would have said when I was that age.
