I'd be curious to know if I'm alone in disliking Apples newer versions of Disk Utility?
For me the last good version was in Yosemite, which with a hack I've got working in El-Capitan.
I have my MacPro fully loaded with HDD's, actually SSD's and some have multiple partitions.
The older Disk Utility was real clear on the drive manufacturer, drive name and even the Bay location.
It made keeping track of which drive I was working on easy, (erasing, partitioning etc), not so the newer DU versions. It is very easy to manipulate the wrong drive, just ask me...:(

It's better than it was under El Capitan (where everything was stripped out) and Sierra, but it's not as useful (or as powerful) as it once was.

Edit to my post above.
I've since discovered some more useful info, "DU menu-bar-View" "Show all Devices".
This makes things much easier, sort of.
