Responding to group MMS only to sender?

If I get a group MMS is there a way to respond to just the sender and not everyone else who received the MMS?

Send that person a regular (non group) message

you have to create a new message just to the one person.

Can't you just turn off Group SMS in settings? Group iMessage still works but I believe it will stop SMS/MMS from sending to the group.

yeah turn off group messaging. the other person needs to shut it off as well
