Seems a shame that such a good source of mac info has bit the dust.

Always found it to really nicely designed and not biased like some of the other magazines.

Its final chapter shows its sense of humour too, heres its cover -

Actually, I'd be rather interested in reading an obit of the magazine.

However, from what I have read elsewhere, this is not the first computer specialist magazine to bit the dust in recent times.

Whether it is a function of the changing media world (people looking to online sources for their information), or the fact that many online sources are free, whereas print magazines require subscriptions, or refers who are prepared to pay for the privilege, or the fact that most people are now - to some (irrespective of how limited) extent, computer literate, which combined have led to a decline in the number of titles published - I don't know and cannot say.

It had been going for 30 years apparently and obviously had a mac slant but I found it just as good for general computer news and reviews. Just like Macs themselves, was also very design led and quite cutting edge at times, in particular there covers which were very clever too.

Used to be fortnightly then moved monthly and now no more Im afraid. They did try the online subscription model too but like most magazines proved themselves to high.

Whilst I agree that this is the way of the world nowadays with e-mags becoming prominent I will still miss opening the first page on my magazine. On the upside at least I'll stop cluttering the house with them!

I'm a big reader of online (photography) magazines. The fact they are free and you don't have to file them is a big plus.
The world has moved on I'm afraid.

I always enjoyed that mag when boarding for my infrequent flight. Read it cover to cover and tore out items of interest. It just wasn't often enough.

I subscribe to Mac Format, believe it is based out London. You might try it.
