My! I feel I have lost weight just trying to get my head around this! Has anyone a recommendation for scales that integrate?

The Withings scale will integrate with the Health App. It will send your weight, BMI, and % body fat to Withings (via your wifi connection in your house), and then you can share that with the Health App.

The Fitibit Aria doesn't seem to integrate with anything except Fitbit. As I'm sure most of us know, Fitbit does all it can to lock you into their Ecosystem and keep you there. They'll share data with software apps, but not with any companies that make a competing tracker. There may be others that do a similar thing; these are the 2 I know about.

I have the Withings and it works great.

The only way the resting calories change is if your metrics change. Gav2k was asking if you wife uses a BT iOS enable scale to weigh herself. If so this would update her weight dynamically in the Health app (and therefore the :apple:Watch/Activity app) every time she ways and then here resting calories would change. If her weight, hight and age all stay the same then her resting calories won't change.

I use WiThings scales so my weight and therefor my BMR (resting Calories) is updated every day

Same here (Withings scale) and I just checked and my resting calories change each day as well... really cool!

This is the advantage of HealthKit! The fact that all of this health stuff communicates through HealthKit is pretty freaking sweet!

Withings Body Analyzer is really awesome and integrates completely with HealthKit. It feeds in:
  • Body Fat Percentage
  • Body Mass Index
  • Heart Rate
  • Weight
It also keeps track of CO2 and Temperautre in your house.

It automatically recognizes who's standing on the scale and (since it uses wifi) it reports those to your account (this lets it keep track of a whole family).

It's expensive... but worth it.

I've also heard that Apple is fixing it. I hope it's soon. And I swear, I do not remember being asked for my "activity level" when I set up my watch. I was looking for that question because I had already heard about this issue. Guess I was hoping I would be one of the lucky ones that it seemed to work for. No such luck.

I really hope they fix it.

It's just flat out wrong. I was always checking my resting calories in the Health App on the Phone and it was right because it was coming from one of workout apps that calculated just age, sex, weight and height. The watch is roughly 1100 more on the Activity App/Move. That number is close to the formula of age, sex, weight, height times activity level (assuming moderate of 1.55) - the watch wouldn't use activity level because it will just add the active calories to the resting calories.

Also, the resting calories in Activity/Move goes up all day - which is fine I guess. It ends the day at it's wrong resting calorie level. Sadly, I have read this before a few times and was certain I was just the lucky one with the right resting calories but that was just for the Health App on the Phone which was right.

i have the cheaper scale they do. it only does weight (and BMI, from the height you set) but it's fantastic. I got it at a really good price too, about ¼ of the cost of the body analyzer. use it every day so my resting calories are always up to date.
