After updating to watch os9 and starting sleep track, my watch seems to be using measurements from my sleep data to calculate resting heart rate. You can see the trend line go through my sleep tracking info in the attached screenshot. Previously, my resting heart rate would use data throughout the day, but according to the trend line, this isn’t the case. I should note this is also my first time using sleep track feature. Anyone experiencing a similar bug?

Since updating to iOS 16/watchOS 9 my resting heart rate is out of whack, something’s changed.

As a former fitbit user, I am also curious about the accuracy here. My fitbit took into account my sleep data. I am not sure why apple does not. It is hard to know which is the better way of getting an accurate RHR.

Garmin also looks at the rate while sleeping.

I am very confused with the apple way of things. I just came from garmin and I am generally satisfied but the resting heart calculation is the most problematic feature, it is basically useless! For one thing it does not consider values while sleeping which does not make sense as it is a very important health feature to see how low your heart rate goes during sleep. Second, and probably even more important, it changes throughout the day replacing lower values with higher ones! So in my case it takes a value when i wake up, let's say low 50s and then throughout out the day as I am on the move and it is most definitely higher, it records and keeps as RHR for the day's values in the high 60s!

Anybody has an idea what is going on?
