restore 2g

help!!! i cant restore my 2g iphone back to normal. it wont sync in itunes it keeps giving me an error sign saying not able to recongnize usb port. i cant tranfer any info between phone and pc. want to restore it to sell it as i have upgraded to the 3g

Reboot your computer. Try it. Switch USB ports (the back one off the motherboard are best) and see if that works. Finally, try restoring in DFU mode, which you'll have to do anyway.
