In the 2 hours since receiving my iPhone SE I've tried and failed restoring from iCloud a total of 4 times. My iPhone SE has burned through 1/3 of its battery.

The first time it got stuck on "Time remaining: estimating..." for 30 minutes. The second time the restore finally got rolling but just as it was almost done someone called me. When I finished the phone call the entire restoration process was reset. Then it got stuck on "estimating..." for another 15 minutes. I'm currently on my 4th attempt; so far still on "estimating..." but I'll let it do its thing for at least an hour.

I don't understand why iCloud restoration has been such a pain in the neck. My iPhone 6 backup is only about 11 GB. I don't believe it's my Wi-Fi since my iPhone 6 took less than 5 minutes to back up.

I am pretty sure iCloud backups are incremental and only uploading changes. My backup is like 6 GB and I know my internet doesn't upload 6GB every time it backs up.

So it could be taking awhile to pull 11GB down for the backup.

If you still have your old phone, back it up with an encrypted backup in iTunes and then restore that way. It'll be faster and restore your account settings. It will still download your apps from the App Store, but your data for them will be there when they finish downloading.

iCloud restore sucks in my opinion. It always restores settings and such but apps get stuck in limbo. From now on I'm going to go back to my usual method of just restoring as NEW, syncing music and apps and configuring everything manually. I have it down so well I can do all that in about 30 minutes tops.

While iCloud backup is turned on I still get in a encrypted backup up right to iTunes about once a week. And when I upgrade devices I always do plugged in through iTunes.

I had the exact same problem. I'm apparently screwed because at one time I used iTunes for backup and switched to iCloud. Now I cannot find any iTunes backups.

But the precious game data.
[doublepost=1459822909][/doublepost]The "Restore from iCloud" is done, but now most of my apps are stuck at "Waiting..." and seem to be making very little progress.

You know how many times I've had to restart Assasin's Creed: Identity? I've gotten my character to level 20 like 3 times already (level 20 is not that easy to reach considering you need to unlock a lot of mission modes and difficulty by collecting badges).:confused:o_O:oops::mad::p

Make sure the device is plugged in and on WiFi. Then, go to sleep and it should be all done by morning.

To conserve battery, the iPhone will generally pause restores and similar activity when not plugged in and the screen is locked. Plugging in the device will disable these throttles and it will do everything it needs to do as quickly as possible. Of course if Apple's servers are slow there's not much you can do about that.
