Is there anyway I can restore my jailbroken iPhone to a clean slate without updating from 7.0.6 to 7.1? I have the intention of jailbreaking again and as i see it, it's gonna be a long time before there is a public release for 7.1 jailbreak.

did you get to that iOS version OTA (over the air)? if yes, then that is a common problem for people trying to jailbreak iOS 7.x that have been updated via OTA
i am trying to follow the steps from http://www.jailbreakmodo.com/fixing-itunes-error-3194-using-tinyumbrella.html
as i have already deleted some host files and it didnt work either.
but tinyumbrella gives me a bunch of warnings and errors just when opening the software, makes me feel a bit desperate by now. not sure if i should try to sort them out or if i make things worse...
how good are you on that? sorry for asking, but you are the only one that replies in the whole wide web 🙂

Semi_restore nor iLexRat will not work for you since you tried to jailbreak an OTA device. You will have to restore. This only works for jailbroken devices that do not have corrupted firmware files.
