I did a classic misstake and I erased the wrong partition.
In disk utility I erased a fat 32 partition to Mac os extended. It chose the fast erase and that option should not erase the date on the HD.

I have tried to restore with stellar phoenix data recover but it only finds a small amount on what was on the HD from the beginning.

Is there a better restore program ?

I'm a little bit confused. What exactly did you erase?

A FAT32 (MS-DOS) partition? Or the Macintosh HD (MAC HD in your thread title)?

If it is the former (FAT32) and you now formatted it with HFS+ (Mac OS Extended), I don't know if Data Rescue 3 might be of help, but if it is the latter, Data Rescue 3 can help.
