I upgraded my iMac to the new i5 and sold my 24" iMac. Before selling it, I backed everything up with Time Machine. I transferred everything to the i5 and I thought everything was working fine until I tried to open iWeb and it didn't work. If I move my domain file from the iWeb folder, iWeb opens fine and starts from scratch. When I check my website online it is still active as well. How can I get my original domain file to open within iWeb so all is not lost?

Thanks for your help in advance.

My wife is going to kill me if I can't recover her website/blog.

Any help or advice or am I screwed?

Thanks.

We can't have murder in the house. ;) Right click on the Domain.sites and choose open with iWeb.

You say opening the file doesn't work, what exactly happens e.g., hangs, error messages, etc.? You can also open the Console app when you're opening the file and see if any relevant messages pop up there that may give a clue as to why the file won't open properly.

Right clicking on the Domain file and clicking open with iWeb does the same thing. iWeb looks like it is going to open with the "opening" progress bar and then nothing, no error messages or anything. It looks like the iWeb program is definitely open because the iWeb icon is lit and not bouncing.

I had the same problem. I had to move the domain file somewhere else (moved it to another folder- like movies), then reloaded it in iWeb (since it was then able to launch). I then deleted whatever page was causing the problem (had to delete 1 by 1 until I figured it out. For me, it was a gallery page that became corrupt when I dragged an album from iPhoto into a picture album page widget.

I ended up having to go back in Time Machine almost a month before finding a domain which would open. Oh well, at least not all is lost.

Thanks for your help.

With getting iWeb and the website up and running again, I have noticed the comment section of the blog is not the same between what is on iWeb and what is posted on the internet. For example, there will be a comment on iWeb, but not on the internet version and vice versa.

Any ideas what could be going on or how to fix it?

help--accidentally deleted an iWeb page then published.

I don't even know where domain.sites is. My problem is that I accidentally deleted my "gallery" page on my iWeb site and then published the site. I'm guessing I'm screwed and I'll have to re-create the page.
