Hi there,

I had an iPhone 4S 64GB which had a multitude of apps, videos, and photos and I have a recent backup. However - I don't want to shell out for another iPhone, but would definitely pick up an iPad Mini when the new iteration comes out.

Can I effectively restore some (or all) of the items from the iPhone backup to the iPad mini, or to say an iPod touch ?

I had to take my iPhone 5 back to Apple a couple of months ago. They replaced it and started a restore for me from iCloud. Unknown to me then it was the then current backup of my iPhone 3GS (which I have unactivated but useable at home). I restored from the correct backup once I got home, but until then I had everthing on my i5 that my 3GS was using.

So, yeah, this is possible. Just a matter of picking the correct backup from iCloud (or iTunes).

Not quite the same but I've switched backups between multiple versions of the phone with no problem, assume it will work the same with a iPad/phone exchange.
