Hello, I had taken backup from my iPhone 6 Plus 2 months back.

Now Im trying to restore that backup to my iPhone X, but it shows it cannot restore.

Why is that ?

How do I restore my backup now to the iPhone X ?

It's likely that the backup was made from a newer version of iOS than what's on the X. You will have to update it before you can restore.

iPhone 6 Plus was on iOS11, I guess 2 months back.

iPhone X is at 11.1

So whats the option now ?

I have already sold the 6 Plus.
I only have the backup on my iTunes.

OP I had no issues using my iTunes backup from my 6 plus running 11.1. The only issue is the iPhone X needs to be updated first. So I unplugged from iTunes, updated OTA to 11.1 then plugged the X back into iTunes.

Just update your iPhone X to the latest version first OTA then you should be fine.

EDT just saw your last post now. Hmm not sure. I had an issue but it worked after updating.

Ok I have contacted apple support over twitter, lets see how they help to resolve.

I found that by using icloud to sync data and photos, I don't need backups. Even game data was saved though game center.

Maybe you don't need to restore. Just a suggestion.

Not sure if this also applies to iPhone 6 Plus.

A friend of mine came from an iPhone 5s, and changed to an iPhone 7 plus (256GB)

She was unable to get her backup onto the new iPhone 7 Plus due to the 256GB memory of the iPhone not being compatible with the older one.

As i said, not sure how this translates to iPhone 6 Plus going to iPhone X.

She had to make a full backup onto iCloud and then use the "restore from iCloud" option.

I restore because, I have around 81 apps organized nicely in folders and dont want to do everything all again
