Restoring from 10.1 Beta Backup

Hi I got my new iPhone 7 Plus today and am currently updating it to 10.0.2.

When I originally tried to restore it from a backup of my 6 Plus, it said I couldn't because the 7's software was too old. I have the 10.1 public beta installed on my 6.

If I install the public beta on my 7 and update it to 10.1, will I be able to restore from my 6's backup then?

The Beta website is down at the moment so I will give it a try once it's back up. Can't seem to come up with any other options where I wouldnt lose data
