Your games saves are more important than having a clean and smoothly running phone?

Restoring from an old OS is always a bad idea.

I want all my text data and game saves. It's 2014, I don't know how they can't figure out game saves over the cloud!!!

Is everyone able to use their phones while it is restoring from iCloud? Mine has a 15 hour(!!!) estimated wait time and it is stuck on the white screen - any way I can actually use the phone while things are being restored? I'm not sure why it would take that long since in the past, I've completely wiped my iPhone 5 and restored it in just a couple of hours.

Mine has been running for 5 hours. My backup was 9GB. All if my apps are there, but it seems my photos aren't done yet as when I go into it, I see "downloading". I rebooted and its not speeding it up. I assume it's Apple's servers getting hammered.

I was finally able to access the home screen and mail, messages, etc. But for some reason my apps are disappearing as the restoring continues. It's there initially and then as they are restored, one by one they are gone from my home screen. Slightly concerned...has this happened to anyone?

This isn't Windows 98.

I've never done a "clean install" of either my Macs or iPhones. No issues.

Never saw that. I have a feeling it's a back end issue. My restore is still running over 12 hours now but I did make the mistake of downloading a lot of music from ITunes Match last night and that probably wasn't a good idea. It looks like all my pics are downloaded now but when I go into photos I still see "downloading".

i saw that, i also have phoneview on my mac that stores all texts + such

is it really true that just setting up from restore is such a bad thing?

it is way easier!!

I haven't done it in years, but I know in the past there were always problem apps and people that restored from a backup on a previous OS had more issues than those that setup clean.

However, perhaps those observations are no longer relevant. Either way I still prefer to setup new when I get a new model and new OS.

i agree, it keeps it nice + clean for OCD peeps like me!

at some point, you kinda wonder what is now an "old wives tale"

does a black face iPhone really give a better viewing experience (i've had both and not once noticed a difference!)

do corrupted files come with a restore? (no clue!)

i'm sure there is more!

enjoy your new toy!!

Mine was ridiculous slow until I switched to Wi-Fi and then rebooted. Then my many apps all downloaded in about 20 min. Pix (thousands) downloaded overnight.
