Restoring from volume......stuck?!?

I put everything on a backup and am trying to do a clean install/restore of my imac hard drive.

i'm at the ''RESTORE" screen and i've got the barber pole and 'erasing volume' note below it. the only problem is...it's been there roughly 10 hours.

any suggestions?
