Hi there, Im very new to apple and iv recently bought a second hand iMac off my friend and im just wondering if its possible to restore factory settings on the iMac so its 'like new' without loosing the songs that are in iTunes? Thanks for any help...

ofcourse you can copy the songs to an external drive and do a clean install, or get them from your iPod. But there's an option to keep all your files intact (even program's I believe) and reinstall mac os x leopard.

iTunes ; Files>Library>Backup to Disc. Burn Discs (DVDs unless its a very small iTunes library).
Wipe Mac clean with fresh install.
Put first DVD in , it automagically restores. You do lose playlists but thats all AFAICR. This is what I did to xfer from PC to Mac.
