iPod touch Restoring iPod Touch

Ever since I got the new update for my iPod there has been MANY problems. I want to update it but when I get to the final(ish) part ,do I start with a new iPod or do I want to restore to my previous one ? If I start with a new iPod would I lose the 3.0 update I paid 10 dollars for? ><

Your OS update is tied to your iTunes account, not your iPod. You will be able to install it onto a different iPod.
