I am trying to restore my phone but not lose all my apps and contacts etc, so when I restore do I just back up first, do the restore, then click restore from backup?

This ***** takes FOREVER.

Let me clarify. I just restored my iPhone due to some dumb issues it was having, and I had it back up first. So the restore is done, then I have a new iphone with none of my stuff on it.

I ad to go back into itunes and click restore from: in order to get my stuff back. I guess I just assumed it would do that automatically the first time around. I essentially had to restore twice. Did I screw up somewhere?

When you do a restore it should say do you want to do a backup, say yes (if you havent done one that day) and let it do its thing. Then after its all restored you get the option as if it was new to start a new iPhone or restore from backup (and then you get a choice from the drop down box), choose the one you want to backup from and let it do its thing again.

Depending on how many apps you have etc and how much music, the longer it will take.

Hope this helps

Ben
