Retina 13" fans?

Never understood why people obsess over these little things that don't matter. They must not be doing any actual work on their Macs.

Common Sense 101:

If your notebook is on your lap and gets uncomfortably warm, move it to a stable work surface that allows for good ventilation.

I bought my first rMBP 13" late 2012 i5 128 SDD a month ago
can anyone check if the temperature and fan speed are both normal ?
I am currently just using google chrome around 11 taps are opened and feeling a warm under letter keyboards.

Your temps are not only quite normal, they're on the low end of the safe operating range. Your fans are at minimum speed, which is also normal, since your temps are not high at all.

I only notice the fans when running a few applications or iTunes.

When working, I normally have safari, pages, messages, iCal and mail open. Even using a speck case, no fans (launch 13" rMBP).

i have the 13" i7 Retina. When i do CPU intensive tasks, it sounds like a freaking jet engine. It happened in a meeting recently and people were like "Uh, is your laptop ok?". Pretty funny. Mine is quiet most of the time though.

Really? I haven't even noticed the fan while editing video in FCPX. Of course I am coming from a MBA which had the whiniest fan I have ever heard, you could hear it on the other side of the house and didn't even have to be doing anything intensive.

At around 5000 RPM you can definitely hear it, but compared to my other computers 5000 RPM is equal to around 2000 RPM on those fans in terms of noise level.
