Retina aside, what is your most desired feature(s) for the next iPad Mini?
For myself, I would have to say the most desired are:

  • LED Flash and improved camera.
  • CPU & GPU speed bump (Quad?).

I would like to see a better camera, the iPad line just doesnt seem like it has the same photo quality as the iPhone. Not that many people use their iPads for photos, but it would be nice that when they do, they can take a really nice photo.

um a DIGITIZER? samsung dominates apple in this category (and many others), but i hate to use their miserable OS

apple is letting the ipad market slip away. right now, there are many better tablets than the ipad mini - the galaxy note and nexus 7, to name a few

Minimum 32 gb. With increasing game sizes, any gamer would soon run out of space after installing some 10 heavy games.

Retina but with same battery life as existing mini.
A bump in memory is assured to 1gb, but would love to see 2gb
And the same CPU & GPU as in the iPad 5

In fact let the only real difference hardware wise between the two (ipad 5 & mini 2) be screen size and I'd be happy. I'd even be happy to pay more than current €329 starting price.

Ram. It'll be 1gb, but 2gb would make it a whole lot better going forward...meaning it'll have 1gb.

As much as I'd be tempted by a retina mini, I think I'll plump for a 5 as I want the fastest cpu/gpu with the most ram this time around.

I second DIGITIZER!!! Trying to write with your finger is just not productive. We need a pen like the galaxy note has, that's seamlessly housed in one of the edges of the iPad! The styluses you can buy for iPad don't work precisely enough.

Give it the same specs as the latest regular iPad model, barring display size of course.

Somehow make the black aluminium chasis black even when it gets scratches. This probably can't be done, but I just wish it could!

More RAM (1GB minimum).
Bump up the CPU.
Leave it the same size (so I don't need to buy new cases/smart covers.
I still want Black/Slate.

1GB RAM

Having 512MB again will put it in the same fate as the iPad 1 especially if it will have Retina.

Better CPU, and GPU. I want an iPad Mini with Retina that is equal in performance to the regular sized iPad. If Apple cannot produce such an item, I will be bummed.

Performance bump would be nice plus doubling the ram.

My main ask wouldn't be retina but a slight res increase to sharpen things up.

A 'Pro' iPad Mini, even if it sells at the same price as the 9.7" iPad, if it has:

1. 4x the resolution of the current iPad Mini (yes, I know you said Retina aside).
2. An A7X processor with quad core graphics, capable of rendering games without a dip in performance.
3. Same or better battery life.
4. Same or less weight.
5. Higher quality screen, and screen technology removing that gap between the cover glass and screen (like you have in the Retina MacBooks) and a more realistic and complete colour gamut (the iPad Mini screen colour is currently CRAP).
6. Screen readable in direct sunlight (perhaps breakthroughs in transflective technology).
7. 32 GB - 128 GB flash storage (raising the low end from 16 to 32 GB).
8. Better anodisation (or a silver polished bezel) on the black version - rather than risking scratches.
9. Improved sound quality from speakers.

802.11ac
Stereo speakers
Would love a back that had a little more grip to it. The al-u-min-ee-um gets a little slick after holding it awhile.

The iPad Mini will always get the scraps, its Apple's way of keeping its price lower.

First on the list is retina of course, that alone is the thing the next mini MUST have. Next would be processor/RAM bump, the current mini is def lacking in horsepower. Next I'd say trim the bezels more, I'm sure people will argue but the current mini is just too big to easily fit in most pockets. I currently have one coat the mini fits in comfortably which is useless as its summer now. If they could trim as much off the existing bezel as possible I think it'd fit in more pockets easier. Isn't portability the whole point of the mini?

1) Retina display (saying it again anyway).
2) Digitizer. I use the styluses that are available and they work well enough, but I'd love to have a better stylus solution for note-taking.
3) RAM and processor speed bump. I normally juggle 3-5 applications in my daily usage and it would be nice if I didn't have to wait for the applications to load.
