Retina Display not backlit

So when I power on this 13" rMBP the screen is black. I shine a flashlight through the apple and see that the display is working so I know its the backlight.

Which connectors are involved with the backlight?

I have read through it. I guess the backlight is incorporated to the display connector?

So if my backlight is not working then is it an issue with software? Or bad light?

Just to state the obvious but have you checked that the screen brightness is not adjusted all the way down?

First I would make sure the problem is not due to software. Try plugging it to an external display and go see the Brightness slider for your integrated display in System Preferences->Displays.
