This has probably been said a million times already now but every time I use my iPod touch, I am in utter awe at the clarity screen. I've used a few iPhone 4's in the past and the quality of the screen never did sink in.

Now I've spent a few days with the iPod touch fourth gen, I've got to say that this screen will play a big part in my next smartphone purchase.

I've seen people dismiss the screen as a gimmick in the past but now my eyes are now open to the hype! Kudos Apple.

Yea it's pretty nice. Loved the form factor of the 3GS but that screen was impossible to withstand

The ability to have really small text that is perfectly readable is very nice. I was never of the opinion the 3gs was bad, it's just the retina is so much better.

I was originally going to keep my iPhone 3GS and not upgrade to the iPhone 4 as I really didn't see much difference between the two. At first I thought the screen was just ehh... Didn't seem that great. Well, after a couple of months I was able to get an iPhone 4 at no charge, so I took the upgrade. And wow... The Retina is amazing. I would have a very difficult time going back to a lower generation iPhone. Mainly because of the screen.

Been using my 4 since launch day and almost everyday I'm reminded of how incredible the screen is. It's everything it's hyped up to be for sure.

Every time i use someones phone, then my iphone 4 after, im always shocked. Especially my friends nexus s. The only thing that thing has going for it is slightly better blacks. but its also got a yellow tint to it. blech!

I still don't get all the hype about the screen. I'm not saying it's bad, I get that a lot of people like it, but it just doesn't impress me. I'd rather have a bigger screen with the same density of the 3GS

i love the screen on the iphone 4 its truely the nicest lookin screen ever put on a phone.... i just ordered a galaxy s2 phone and it will be interesting to see how the screens compare...

Sorry, but you're crazy. And this is coming from a guy that's been using a 3GS for 2 years now.

According to your sig you have a 3GS. Have you used a 4 for more than a few mins and then tried to go back?

Also, I hope apple does not listen to people like you and up the screen size.

I prefer a smaller form factor with my phone.. I'm not watching movies on my phone, that's what my iPad is for, so why do I need a huge display on it.
I don't..

Besides, from what I read the technology is not there to make a 4" screen retina quality. And I hope apple will go backwards in dpi.

YOU don't watch movies, but a lot of people do. I don't either, but my girlfriend does, some of my friends and my mom.

A bigger screen with retina display would be awesome.

+1.

Bigger screens are getting sorta stupid. A 5 inch screen? Does the phone company make pants with specialized pockets that allow your new phone to sit properly in your pocket?

You think your 4th gen touch has a nice screen, wait until you get your mits on a iPhone retina. Soooo much better!

Who mentioned a 5" iPhone? Every time the topic of larger screens comes up people start exaggerating. All anyone realistically wants is 4" on an iPhone. Hardly mammoth.

I totally agree - the retina display really is amazing. I could hardly stand to use my 3g for an extended amount of time. I just upgraded to the iPhone 4 and have found myself using it even more than my iPad. In my opinion, the clarity is so great that a bigger screen isn't even needed. Not that a slightly bigger screen would be bad, but some of these phones coming out are kind of ridiculous.

This is my first time owning a iPhone and oh my God! This screen is ridiculously awesome! It's so sharp and straight to the point. There is no strain on the eyes when viewing small text. It's like it's right there so clear!

This screen makes other cell phone screens eat dirt. I would sacrifice screen size for the retina display anytime lol

Thanks Apple!

Of course, what kind of idiot would I be to say something without extended use. I've used an iPod Touch with a retina display for around 3 months. I'm not saying I don't notice the difference, I'm just saying I don't need a retina display, I'd rather have a bigger screen.

You do know the display size can be increased within the body of the current design right? Apple makes terrible use of the front of the iPhone. Also, contrary to your apparent beliefs, you are not the only person in the world with an iPhone, people use their phone for different things. I would love a bigger screen for games, web browsing, and just general ease of typing. I don't watch movies on my phone either, even a 5" (which no one asked for in the first place) screen would suck for that.

My ideal size would be 4" -4.3" and if they can keep the 'Retina' factor then why not.

Where did anyone say they wanted a 5" screen? Please keep you're reductio ad absurdum to a minimum. All we want is a 4" screen

I have been diligently waiting for high dpi monitors to become mainstream. Probably still 7 years away :-(

Like 90% of the posts on here, the Retina is absolutely stunning. Pixel density (remember 480i vs 1080p!?!) is everything, and the next logical step is either a slight bump in screen size (dont believe the new form factor for a second, realize that all your handheld iProducts are about the same dimensions for a reason- ie: iPods, iTouch, iPhone) or moving on and not fixing stuff that ain't broken. For example, the Glass Trackpad on the laptops were a HUGE improvement in 2008, but we dont get a new trackpad every year after that, because it's just that good. Sink the R&D into graphics, battery, connectivity, Mobileme. :apple:
