They showed up in Los Gatos around 11am, but quickly sold out.

Those were wifi only :(
I've been checking every Bay Area (Cali) store non-stop since 8am. Not one cellular model in sight. Only Santa Rosa (had all models wifi) and Los gatos had a few wifi only.

----------

Correction!!! Just checked!! A whole bunch of Bay Area (Cali) stores have wifi only models!!!

I'm posting from one right now. I did the in store pickup and about 2 hours later, I got the email. This thing is slick. I notice the colors are dull, like the non retina (iMessage icon's green tint is a whole lot different than the one on my 5s).

Picked up a silver 16gb earlier today. All stores in NY have had them in stock for 6+ hrs now. So much for limited availability.

What I notice is that the colors aren't as sharp as my air. Mini is duller.

T-Mobile started accepting orders - Sadly only offering the 16gb version:

NEVERMIND /\ This is for the iPad NON-RETINA version. Curses!

I've been on-line searching everywhere all day and have yet to find a cellular version in-stock anywhere.

i don't think cellular versions are being released in stores any time soon.
Ordering directly from Apple's Online Store states a 5-10 day shipping range compared to the 1-3 days for the wifi only models. I'm guessing they are having a tough time pushing out the cellular model. Apple heads are probably implementing Changes, Revisions, fixes and what-nots down to the wire.

Just to confirm, has anyone seen a Wifi+Cell available anywhere? I have been checking throughout the day for NYC availability and have not seen anything.

So the retina iPad mini. Has all the hardware as the iPad Air. In a smaller lighter package, but costs less ??

Only advantage of the air is more room for swipes and gestures?

None at SF flagship store

I was at the San Francisco store this morning at 10am - none avail. Was hinted by one rep that they may be there by Noon.

Went back at 4pm - still none - the "Geniuses" were shocked to see that other stores around the world had any of them.

Mostly stocked on this side of town :) Although, still trying to decide between rMini or saving my money. We shall see...

Guess all those rumors about limited availability seemed to be off.

My daughter just so happened woke us up at 2:30am last night and having seen earlier that they might be released checked MacRumors on my phone and saw they were out. I raced to my computer and bought two quickly (one for us and one for ebay).

Anybody looking to pay a huge premium for a completely stocked product :p

Guess I'll be returning one to the Apple store once it arrives.

Apparently so. Same CPU/GPU/Motion processor and everyone is expecting it will have the same amount of RAM too (1GB).

Well I'll be damed. Good eye.

Wifi only models are appearing in LA Stores:
Glendale, The Grove, Pasadena, etc.

Good to know since I live next to The Grove will be going there on Friday :) so for everyone who has the iPad Mini 2 how is it..any screen issues or anything else that I should be aware of..
I was going to wait til Black Friday sometimes they have promotions, or maybe Target or Wal-mart has the same kind of sale that they have for the iPad Air

bigger screen / bigger battery / higher clock speed on the A7 chip is kind of a big deal :)

It's a very small deal I think. No one will ever notice the higher clock speed. Screen size is subjective, doesn't make any difference in performance unless you're using it to create work then I could see the bigger screen being beneficial. For 90% of people, it's all e-mail, web browsing, Facebook, Twitter, banking, games.

so you think screen size isn't a big deal

that doesn't mean most other people think the same. resolution isn't everything. some people literally need a bigger screen.

Yup. Only reason to get an Air is if you're old and have poor eyesight.

C'mon Dallas. Let's get some avail already

Assuming that NONE of the Texas stores had any all day, I'm going to assume we just got our shipments a day late.....would be unreal if 2 of the largest metroplexes in the country didn't get any....

Gonna be going through the "refresh every 5 seconds" tomorrow just like I did today!

I saw a 32gb AT&T model earlier today for pickup in the Marlton, NJ store (was what I was going to buy before I picked up the Air so I was curious if they had them). Picked up a 16gb wifi at the same store tonight for the wife and they are still showing availability (at least they were as of 9:30 or so).

Edit: it was a T-Mobile version now that I think about it.
