Hey Guys,

Just stopping by to say I got a new Retina MacBook Pro today, 2.6/16/256gb and it is absolutely perfect.

Not a scratch on it, no dead pixels, LG screen with no image retention. Just a wicked awesome computer.

I also put a black carbon fiber skin on it and figured id post a couple of pictures!

What temperature difference are you seeing. In my experience doing that action had a negligible impact (at best) on temps

How Difficult To Apply?

I received my MacPro Retina yesterday....FANTASTIC! Already ordered a clear hard case but like the look of your skins... how hard is it to apply

Thanks

Oh my god. Why did you remove the cooling strip from the inside of your macbook pro. Doing that messes up the seal created by the thermal conducting compound which has already dried.

You will not have the same thermal conductivity between the processor and the heat dissipating plate unless you apply a new amount of thermal conducting compound.

If you insist on doing this, please have some arctic silver or something similar to put on your cpu's, otherwise you risk overheating your laptop or causing your laptop to seriously start throttling itself in situations where it originally would not.

could someone actually make a tutorial and show how to change the Thermal Compound on rmbp without losing apples warranty?

So I'm guessing he cleaned off the old thermal compound and replaced it with new.

I removed the garbage thermal compunction that they use and replaced it with a proper amount of MX-4, don't worry I know what I'm doing!

I've found that switching the thermal compound on MacBooks tends to drop the temp close to 5-10 degrees, I highly recommend it if you can do it

he should write a guide on how to do it and the differences after replacement.

my rmbp is having overheat issue while cpu is under heavy loaded. I may get a better temp if it is correctly replaced.

I replaced the paste on my rMBP with IC7 diamond but the temperatures remain the same as before because the fan does not spin faster until the CPU temperature reaches around 95-100c.

If anything all it did was slow down how quickly it heated up. :(

I can redo the thermal paste again and make a video out of it if everyone wants me to..

That's interesting that your temps didn't change, did you put too much paste on maybe? You made sure all the screws were back I snugly?
