A video would've been awesome!!!

Love that black carbon skin and I see you got a green one for the iPhone too ? :)

I can still make one but I ran out of thermal paste and would need to get more, and thats my friends phone, mines naked lol.

Can you get this case for 13' and if so how much is it?

I got it from iCarbon.com and it was $50 for the top and bottom. It's just a sticker to put on the computer.

if you write a detailed guide with video full recorded on each step and full detailed pictures as well, I will translate it to Chinese and post on the most popular Chinese APPLE product forums under your credit of course.

there are a lot of ppl there having issue with heats.

also another unanswered question, has anyone confirmed with apple if thermal replacement would void the warranty? maybe i should make a call myself before the attempt.

Well then, I guess I'm getting more thermal paste tomorrow...

Don't you guys have a problem with heat? I observed the temperature, CPU hit 94 C during Diablo III. I am trying to improve the cooling system and my cooling pad. Any idea? I am thinking to take off iCarbon skin at bottom out. It decrease ability to release the heat out of your rMBP. Don't you think so?

i have ghost armor invisible film top and bottom on my mac not carbon fiber but i have noticed that my retina mac does heat up a little more because of it. I think it traps some heat in since maybe the aluminum bottom is used to dissipate heat that radiates from cpu and gpu on the bottom. When i took it in to apple for SSD repair(yes, the ssd failed on me...) they didn't make a fuss about having a protector or skin on my month and half old retina so it wouldnt void warranty and if it failed because of heat, apple will fix of course. I got it on day one, custom order from apple online.

I've found that switching the thermal compound on MacBooks tends to drop the temp close to 5-10 degrees, I highly recommend it if you can do it

I was thinking to change thermal compound as well. Does this process void the Apple warranty? What thermal compound did you use? artic cooling mx-4?

It would void it as you are opening the laptop. But if your careful and don't strip the screws Apple would probably never know you did it.

I used MX-4, to be honest i'm not sure if it would void the warranty or not, but if you dont strip the screws or break anything then you should be fine..

This is something i'm going to address in my write up, the fact that pulling the heat sink will void the warranty if you damage it, and I cant be held responsible...

A big drop on temperature?

I always find that the thermal compound used on the macs is OKAY, but not great. And they put way too much on there, which leads to improper heat dissipation. I like switching out the compound for my own chosen one as it will drop the temperature a fair bit to start, but also make it it easier for the cooling to handle the higher temperatures. A fair number of people have been reporting that with the switch its taking longer for their macs to hit higher temperatures, which is great!

I stick on icarbon skin. I think it is one of the reason that my rMBP is hot. Removing the skin at bottom would help?

interesting, my GPU never goes above 73C even on heavy load gaming, looks like no need to replace thermal paste for me lol
