I'm planning to buy an rMBP with 16Gb RAM.

Do I have to order from Apple, or can I get it from B&H as well (placing the order through them and buying through them)?

The Apple On-line store is the only place that offers non 2.7 16GB, that I could find. In-store I have only seen the fully spec'd version which is a little $$$$ :)

This might change in the future once supply evens out and more configurations are available.

If you want the base model with 16GB of RAM, ordering through Apple is your only choice. It's a BTO machine.

Hmm.. good way to save on $230 of taxes for those of us in California wanting this config..

Macmall offers non 2.7 16gb online as well.

Does anyone have the 2.6GHz version with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD? I couldn't find it on B&H.

Well.. looks like the base + 16gb on B&H is gone now, and my Apple order just switched to "Processing" :( Should I cancel and order through B&H and save $330, hoping they would get new stocks soon, or cave in to the wait and get it through Apple? :p

is this apple confident that 8Gb is good enough for everybody or is it just trying to force people to by top of the range?
