If you're not happy with it, then sell it, buy a tablet and desktop.

Personally, I love my rMBP its a great computer and I have no buyers remorse. Everyone is different and if the laptop isn't suiting your needs, fix the situation, i.e., sell it.

Yup! exactly.

That last statement is just all kinds of wrong. I have a iPad 3 and love it. Use it all the time. Using it now, in fact. But there are many thing I can only do with my laptop (Don't have a desktop) I work in Film Production. When making a shooting schedule I use software called Movie Magic. First thing you do is fill in Breakdown Pages. Each page represents a scene. Cast, props etc. all elements for that scene. Then you end up with strips that move around for each scene. And you make a schedule with those strips. On the iPad there's a app where you can move the strips around, so feasibly you can make a schedule. But you CAN NOT input info on breakdown pages. They only allow you to do that on the original software. So, if I only had a iPad then I could not input any of the information for all scenes. Not the cast, not the props, not the set or description, not even the scene number. This is a minor example that shows that the iPad is NOT a replacement for a laptop or desktop. Not yet.

honestly

honestly, the worst decision you've ever made was thinking you could think on your own. you might not want to leave the house without a guide.

couldn't you just be happy that you had the BEST laptop of anyone in the room, as silly as that might actually be?

Set it on fire!
... and post the YouTube-URL. :D Kidding.

If you are a content creator and want to do your work while traveling, a laptop is a must-have. Everything else could be replaced by a tablet. Never thought before, that I would say that sometime.

Unbelievable. What a drama queen.

Here's an idea. Take kitchen knife and cut one of your arms off. Then at least you'll be able to console yourself with the fact that buying an rMBP is no longer the worst mistake you've ever made.

I have 3 desktops, an iPad 4, and a 15" rMBP.

The rMBP gets by far the most use. It's a fantastic and incredibly versatile machine.

Yup, back in the 90s laptops were WAAAAAAY better.

if simply buying a laptop is the worst mistake of your life then i seriously envy you.

I think a tablet and a desktop is a much more potent combination and much cheaper. The other day I was traveling and I brought my laptop with me. Everyone was enjoying their tablets/smartphones and I was the only one with a huge brick. I felt so embarrassed. Everyone was so mobile and they could easily flash their tablets/smartphone anytime anywhere. I had to lug this thing around for the whole day cause I couldn't leave a 2.2k device at the hotel.

The point of a 15" laptop is to either ferry your work from home to work, or as a desktop you can move from the couch to the bed to the kitchen table.

It's not something you bring to a coffe shop any more. That's for 13" laptops and tablets only. You're right you made the wrong choice if you want to lug it around. Also $2000 is nothing - you don't have to take it with you anywhere.

Feeling inadequate because you only have a RMBP in a room full of tablets and smartphones is hilarious. You should write comedy. But make sure you start everything with the words."The worst mistake in my life was.....".

You know, just so we know it's you.....

I can think of bigger mistake in life accepting a trojan horse from the greeks lol having a best friend name judas , sinking the titanic, throwing away the winning lottery ticket , being a teen mom

Yeah, I think based on what you write you made a mistake...I just got my rmbp but I have a spare 13 inch mbp (3 years old) and an ipad3 and iphone 4s. All the ios devices offer themselves to slightly different user experiences based on wireless vs. cellular and the size of the screen.

Based on what you say, I think the other posters are right...see if you can sell it, and then get a cheap but powerful desktop and consider waiting a few months for the new iteration of iphones to see if the rumors regarding bigger screens are real. Your best purchase would be the next iPhone with the biggest screen you can get. You will carry your phone around with you everywhere, anyways, and with good cellular data you will use it all time.

Did you forget to take your medication?

Ok, on a serious note. I'm very happy with my iMac 27'' and MacBook Air 11'', they compliment each other very well. This is my favourite combo so far after 7-8 years of using various Apple products. Today I would have bought the MBP retina 13'', which is also a very compact and portable machine. Mostly because the screen quality of the MBAs have actually become worse, not better. The latest model has a screen with very washed out colours IMO.

iPads and smart phones are mostly glorified toys to me, a way to sell consumers fancy products they don't really need. Although, I see a clearly bigger use for smart phones than iPads. The MacBook Air on the other hand is so incredibly practical. It's a full blown computer for *production*, not just consumption and playing around, and it's only slightly bigger than the present iPad model.

Ignore the haters in this thread. They are just jealous. If you regret buying it then return it.

Wow. The extreme hyperbole in the original post is what makes it so hard to stomach. And the last paragraph just tops it off and makes it hard to take anything the OP says seriously. Tablets these days do everything better than laptops? And laptops are worse now than they were in the early 2000s? Statements like that are what makes your post seem like trolling....

Just sell your RMPB and buy a tablet. Easy :)

I just received my 15" RMPB and couldn't be happier.
